Welcome to the official Central Victoria Swimming website for the 2016 Country Swimming Championships. We're excited to be able to once again host this event which is the premier competition for swimmers in regional Victoria.

Please make sure you visit this site often in the months and weeks leading up to January 2016. As more information comes to hand it will be posted here first.

Don't forget to visit our Facebook page for more information too. We'll be opening it up for your photos and comments when the Championships are underway.

Central Victoria Swimming Inc., the peak body for competitive swimming in central Victoria, has successfully bid to run the 2016 Swimming Victoria Country Long Course Swimming Championships. With the full support of the City of Greater Bendigo this prestigious event will be held at the Bendigo Aquatic Centre over the 15th, 16th and 17th of January 2016.

A large contingent of more than 700 of regional Victoria's best young swimmers will come to Bendigo to compete. They'll be supported by over 2000 family, friends, clubmates, coaches and officials. Hosting an event of this size and calibre in Bendigo will bring huge benefits to all parts of central Victoria.

The stunning logo for the Championships was created by graphic design students studying at Bendigo TAFE. Four excellent designs were submitted to the Championships organising committee for consideration with the winning design being the one created by Jessica Credlin, Alex Neale and Matthew Martin.

The design captures the fierce competition that will be driving the swimmers to perform at their best. It also reflects the support and camaraderie amongst clubmates and rivals alike that will be on display across the three-day carnival.

Bendigo is a large, centrally located city making it easily accessible from all parts of the State. The city has all of the facilities necessary to support a population of 100,000 people and meet every need of the visitors to the Championships.

At the centre of the Bendigo CBD is the Alexandra Fountain. It's just an easy five minute walk from the Championships venue. View St, Pall Mall, Charing Cross and Mitchell St all radiate from the fountain. These streets support numerous dining and retail outlets of all sorts. Venture a little further into the city and you'll quickly discover an even larger array of businesses eager to serve you. Countless accommodation houses, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, retail businesses, sporting, cultural and council facilities are all within easy walking distance or a short drive from the venue.

The Bendigo Visitor Information Centre is located in the old Post Office in Pall Mall. The friendly volunteers stand ready to help you make the most of your visit to our City. A free accommodation booking service is available to all patrons of the Championships.

To help you get your bearings we've created a simple map which includes easy to find city landmarks as well as pointers to convenient street and covered car parking, the location of Bendigo's Market Place shopping mall, department stores, the hospital and many other attractions and services.
